And a fine time was had by most!
What a treat to read poems in one of the epicenters of American poetry, at Specs’ no less with Bill Taylor, Jr. and a few more of the city’s finest — and at one of the best bars in San Francisco. Pretty darn great.
And then to bum around the bay, from a San Leandro earthquake through sunburn at Alcatraz, fine meals at Scoma’s and R&G Lounge, caviar on the waterfront, tacos beside Lake Merritt, Waymos, SF MoMA, and cocktails on a cliffhouse patio while listening to tunes plunked out on a grand piano as the sun sets and a little bat friend flits by. Yep, I loves me some adventure!
Heavy Feather / Mirage
A while back, Pete [of Dead Prince Books] was kind enough to send me a grip of fine questions about PSALMS and some other work in general. He put the answers together with a quick review. and now I’m jazzed to see the review and interview have found a home at HEAVY FEATHER. It’s a great venue for keeping up with some independent press scuttlebutt, hear about books, and discover books and projects. My deepest thanks to Pete and to the Heavy Feather crew for giving me a few flowers!
In other news, I about fell over when my aunt found mention of PSALMS in my college alumni magazine! MIRAGE is pretty much what I thought I was seeing — figuring the heat was getting to me! Then a work colleague mentioned seeing it as well — so I knew I wasn’t imagining things [see Page 63!]. I imagine I probably have ol’ Ben Tanzer to thank for this hustle — so if you’re after a little project PR, this is a friendly reminder that he’s often available for hire!
Anyhow — that’s what’s new here at the HQ. Hope you all are staying safe and cool out there this summer!
SOMETHING RANDOM AND BEAUTIFUL
At long last we’ve got a QUICK SEARCH feature to CLICK THROUGH some of the website’s highlights.
The website has really grown over the years, and that can make navigating a chore! The braintrust here at the HQ thought we should do something about that!
It’s hopefully helpful for those new to these parts, curious to see what we’ve been getting up to! It’s also intended to help old friends just looking to quickly discover things they might’ve missed! For you deep seekers, there are still secret little corners to discover — but this should make it easy to get a sense of some of the fun stuff through the years.
A link to it also lives in the footer below, for quick and easy access.
