There’s Never Been A Better Time…
Then there’s this little number — “There’s Never Been A Better Time…” — a 1-poem booklet handmade and burnished and stamped and saddle-stitched in-house in an edition of 52. Here at the HQ we feel the ephemera has been getting short-shrift lately so we aim to change that! It’s pretty darn inexpensive as well!

And then, out of nowhere, you friend and mine, Ben Tanzer tells me that PSALMS has managed to earn an honorable mention from those cool cats over at the 2025 Big Other Readers’ Choice Award. A NM Book Awards finalist, and now this? I’ll take it!

And coming is just about a week…CICADA by Emma Beko
Two years ago, Canadian singer and songwriter Emma Beko reached out, having discovered my poem somewhere in the electro-webs, with some downright kind things to say about it and work. Seems the poem has since played a small role in the inspiration of her latest album, and as we talked, the opportunity to record the poem for use on the record came up — and, now years later, it’s all about to be made real for the world!
I’ve talked a bit about the humbling and astonishing reach of the poem…and how astonished and overjoyed I am that it keeps finding people and that it means something to them. The album goes live on May 14th, 2026 at the retailers listed above, if not elsewhere! She’ll be hitting the road touring, so give it a listen, give her a follow, and keep your eyes out at nearby venues for one of her shows!
Books on the Bosque
Huzzah! We’re happy to report that you can also grab up a copy of Psalms From The Badlands at Books on the Bosque on Albuquerque’s West Side.
This is all pretty new for us, and it’s pretty exciting! The default setting around the HQ is to not twist too many arms and simply get on with things without too much fuss. But we’d be lying if we said we haven’t been pretty excited about being a finalist in this year’s New Mexico Book Awards, and especially grateful for the awesome shops that have added Psalms to their shelves. I am forever grateful just for the chance to be there. So go tell anyone who will listen!
As much as I hate to admit it, small presses have an uphill struggle getting into places where most book buyers go looking for books. So anytime some new reader has a chance ti discover us at a shop — I tell ya, it feels pretty darn great!
I hope I never get used to this magic feeling.
