The DrunkSkull Sidewalk Cinema is a micro-cinema pop-up bringing animated small press poetry to bookstores and bars, taprooms and art spaces — basically anywhere else that'll have us — starting in Albuquerque, New Mexico and looking to travel.
The programming draws primarily from the animated poem series built around A Deep and Gorgeous Thirst — short, handmade animations created by artists, illustrators, and filmmakers from around the world, each one interpreting a drunk poem in their own way. There’s video broadsides from Psalms From The Badlands, and time-lapse footage of linocuts and collage as they were created for special editions.
The format is simple: a screen, a projector, some popcorn and maybe a good beer — and poems that were built for exactly this kind of accidental discovery. Think of it as a 21st-Century nickelodeon you can watch with a friend.
