Welp, they’re at it again…
Hot on the tail of the gorgeous (TV - O.D.) project celebrating World Collage Day, your favorite slice-and-dice collective, The Kut-uPs, are back — this time with Kut 1. And man, what a beaut! Complete with a few fake ads, a quick Q&A with creators, loads of collage from the rag-tag pack of art-and-trouble-makers, and even one of them highfalutin’ brainy-type essays comparing a Frankenstein-centric series to the reimagining of image that collage delivers, and how the two make for such terrific bedfellows. So, If you’re looking for a copy, why not go give THIS PLACE A TRY…
Helluva Decade...
Pictured here are the various editions of a few of the highlights from the last decade. It seemed to be a good time to take stock — remind myself of the victories. I imagine it’ll be hard for me to top this — poetry, short stories, a book of letters, and my first novel — so I thought I’d take this opportunity to thank the editors and publishers who took a chance on the bigger projects over the last 10 years.
Jason Behrends of Orange Alert Press, Bill Roberts of Bottle of Smoke Press, Ryan Bradley of Artistically Declined Press, and Pete Lally of Pig Ear Press. I also managed to place some work with Johnny & Giselle Brewton’s BAGAZINE and a couple of offerings from Michael Curran’s Tangerine Press, as well as a re-release of two out-of-print titles with Matthew Ward’s Mary Celeste Press and a new imprint from Bill Roberts, Ternary Editions. I sure can’t thank each of them enough for believing in my work.
With the release of Chinese Gucci, I also started my own DrunkSkull Books, and with a cache of ISBNs under my arm, I will likely look to self-publish the occasional new title from here on out as well
And while I’m giving thanks — let me thank each of you reading this for your interest and support over the years. Your support of writers, small presses, and.artists makes the whole dang thing possible and that means more than you know to me.
Papa's Got a Brand New Bagazine...
Bagazine #7
That's right folks...a new Bagazine is due out directly...and, for the first time ever, I managed to place a piece in it! For those who don't know, Bagazine is "Assemblage - Bagism - Happening"...so, a kick-ass conglomeration of all manner of "chapbooks, mini comics, broadsides, photographs, collage, drawings, interviews, printmaking, letterpress, xerox, gocco, stencil, woodcuts, etc." and they "strongly encourage emphasis on hand-made NOT machine-made" pieces. If this sounds even remotely cool to you, check out their gorgeous GALLERIES of past issues -- you won't regret it. Giselle and Johnny Brewton are the mad folks behind this truly unique approach to an art and lit mag, and I guarantee you'll recognize more than a few names in the ranks. Placing work with them has long been on my publishing dream list, and I couldn't be happier with the piece I made: a shrinky-dink of van Gogh's severed ear.
"Suffer For Art Like van Gogh" for Bagazine #7
So if you're wondering what to do with that $50 Granny gave you, and just happen to love original, handmade ephemera from lots of interesting, creative personalities -- well, now you know!
